Vehicle Depot
The depot buildings are of Atcost construction, consisting of a pre-cast concrete frame, clad with corrugated sheeting pitched roof and sides. The softwood sliding doors were added to the original eight-vehicle depot shortly after its completion in October 1969. The first few vehicles were brought onto the Site on 1st November 1969, moving straight undercover.
The advantages of the Atcost building became obvious when the extensions were built, for the end wall was removed and reused. The leveling of the ground and provision of a hard standing floor, however, made up for any apparent saving.
The project was completed once metal sliding doors had been installed to cover the once open front of the depot.
